Selectmen's Minutes October 5, 1998
Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes of 10/5/98

Selectmen Present:      Chairman, Peter Jones, Judy Murdoch, Cathy Kuchinski, Daniel Webster, Charlie Flynn.

I.      Chairman Jones called the meeting to order at 7:10p.m.  Carole McCormack, Treasurer/Collector asked the Board to vote on a settlement offer for the Town regarding a firefighter accident.  Motion by Murdoch to instruct the Tax Collector to proceed with the settlement as described, 2nd by Flynn.  5-0 Vote.

II.     Kuchinski asked the Board if they would like to reconsider Article 21, the Board had decided to reconsider after they had received more information.  Flynn does not recommend this type of change at the Special Town Meeting.  The Board decided to stay with their current decision to not recommend this Article.  

III.    The Fire Chief had a figure of $10,500 for the exhaust system.  The Board discussed the amount of money the exhaust system will cost.  Barbara Gomez, Town Accountant informed the Board that this money is to pay for engineering and other costs that were not accounted for in the last article for $15,000.  The Board decided to refer this Article to Town Meeting.  

IV.     The Fire Chief made some changes to Article 25 regarding fees for inspections and reinspections.   Instead of an escalating fee schedule it would cost $25 for each inspection. Webster made a motion to recommend the revised article, 2nd by Flynn.  4-1 Vote.  (Kuchinski, naye)
V.      Murdoch discussed with the Board that she would like the Chairman to send a letter to the Board of Appeals to ask for their input regarding the Building Inspector since they are the Board that works very closely with him.   

 VI.    Nugent announced that the Board has been invited to a meeting with the County Commissioners regarding the High Street property on October 15, 1998.

VII.    Adjournment:  Motion by Murdoch to adjourn to the Annual Town Meeting, 2nd by Webster.  5-0 Vote. Selectmen’s Meeting adjourned at 7:30pm.
